The Social Action Youth Group at UUC began in September 2025. We identified various issues that we were passionate about and decided to work together to address them. These include: immigration support, gun reform, climate change, hunger, and homelessness.

Even though our group meets at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, our activities are secular, and we welcome people of all backgrounds and religions to join us. We would love to hear what issues are important to people of different backgrounds.

We meet monthly, typically on Saturdays from 3-5 PM, with some additional online planning meetings. So far, the activities we have done include: a “Stuff-a-Trunk” drive with food for immigrants in need, packing 80+ hygiene bags for homeless men at Pacific House, running a toy drive for Toys for Tots, participating in a Filling in the Blanks packing event where we packed 700 bags, writing letters to families in Minneapolis who are afraid to leave their homes with the ongoing ICE presence and gathering groceries and toiletries for a specific immigrant family in need. Our latest activity is volunteering at Fairgate Farms, which grows delicious produce to fight food insecurity: seeking to regenerate the land and community. Our farm tasks may include preparing beds for planting, turning and screening compost, watering and planting.
