Dear UUC community,
In recent weeks you have heard of stepped up ICE harassment in Fairfield County including Danbury, Stamford and Norwalk detaining people at school bus stops, schools and childcare centers and workplaces. In a short week in August, 118 people were abducted by ICE in four days. Our statewide UU partner “Hands Off Connecticut” with the support of CT UU Justice Ministry has called on Gov. Ned Lamont to create a $10 million dollar emergency fund for legal representation and essential goods for impacted immigrant families.
In the next few days, please write a letter to the Stamford Advocate: Letters.advocate@scni.com. Letters must include the writer’s name, full address and phone number for verification; only the name and town will be published. Please write “Letter to the Editor” in the subject line.
Urge Gov. Lamont to create a new $10 million dollar fund for legal representation and essential goods for impacted families. The state has $265 million in emergency funding in hand and Gov. Lamont can create a new fund immediately. The Governor should act by Thanksgiving to create a new fund to protect immigrant families.
Please write a letter to the editor of the Stamford Advocate today!!
Write a quick note to Gov Lamont urging action:
