Soul Matters: a Path for our Religious Exploration and Worship
This year our worship services and religious exploration (RE) classes share common ground. We will be sharing monthly common themes as we move through our congregational year together.
As you know, we are in transition as we begin the search for a new minister. By sharing themes each month, we will create greater cohesion and deeper community as we explore monthly themes sometimes separately, sometimes together during Time For All Ages and multigenerational services.
The Soul Matters provides these shared monthly themes with resources for both Sunday classes and worship services throughout the year. Here are our monthly themes for the year:
And it is also in the spirit of “Beginnings” that our children will join the congregation in a Homecoming Water Ceremony service this coming, Sunday the 13th.
Also known as InGathering, the service is a Unitarian Universalist tradition dating back to the 1980’s. This annual service marks a turning in our lives as we move from the summer months into a new congregational year.
We will perform a ritual that holds water as a symbol of how the individual streams of our lives grow stronger as we flow together. The invitation to children and adults alike is to bring water to the ceremony and share a short reflection as your water is poured into a communal bowl. You may share a short story of a summer experience that held some significance for you, or a brief reflection on your hopes for the coming year.
