Message from DRE Jeanne Nametz

Holidays & Holydays Class: No class Sunday, February 15th.
Last Sunday, during our Sunday service of Share the Love our children created  letters, art work and well wishes for school children in Minneapolis. Our youth also wrote letters to Minneapolis youth during their monthly Saturday meeting. Sarah Damon brought this project to our attention! Here is an overview of the project targeting the mental health of Minneapolis children:

Organizers from Minneapolis write: Thank you for signing up to be part of Friends to Friends! Many families in Minneapolis have been isolated for weeks, and now with their kids doing online learning, the kids are isolated too. Many kids are directly impacted and have had family members taken – but all kids are scared and having a lot of feelings. They miss their friends and feel confused.
Families in Minneapolis are organizing food deliveries and came up with the idea of adding letters of encouragement from kids in other cities. The goal is to provide emotional support, hope, and a sense of community and solidarity through hand-written letters, postcards, or pictures.

UUC Social Action Youth Group: Upcoming Initiatives
The youth would like to become involved with SNUI in some capacity this Spring. They will also be brainstorming about how to lead parts of RE Sunday in June and are planning on volunteering at Fairgate in early April. We have been joined by Craig McElroy and Peter Devin who will be joining the youth group for specific events. Many thanks to our youth volunteers!
